Education updates from Kampala

Education is not a luxury — it is one of the means by which God lifts people from the pit of despair to the dignity of His image.

44 students attend tertiary education outing (July 2025)

We held a one-day outing for those enrolled in tertiary education. 44 students attended on Thu 31st July.

Congratulations graduates!

Earlier this year, Trudy graduated with a Bachelor’s of Business Administration, majoring in Accounting — congratulations! We also thank the Lord for the 23 children who completed their secondary level this year and have now started tertiary education.

Pray for those who dropped out

We hold up in prayer the several children who dropped out of school in 2025 for various reasons. This can often be due to drug abuse that is prevalent across the slums. We are reminded that life in the slums is immensely difficult. Let us pray that God brings them back.

Laptops for students

In September, we equipped 5 students with laptops to support their education. We pray for these students and all those who have started this term:

  • Sulaiman received a computer to help him pursue his Quantity Surveying bachelor's degree.

  • Liz is excited to use the laptop for coursework while she pursues a Bachelor of Office and Information Management.

  • Trevor is very thankful for the laptop, an essential bit of equipment to pursue a diploma in Computer Science!

  • Andrew is happy to have a laptop to help with his Business Computing course.

  • Patrick was also pleased and grateful to receive a new laptop!

May God bless them in their studies!

Sulaiman’s scholarship

One exciting story is that of Sulaiman (mentioned above) in particular.

Sulaiman is part of Jane Namugalu’s family, who attends St. Nicholas Kalerwe. Back in March, we received word that he excelled in his Senior 6 exams. From his 3 major subjects, he received an AAB, earning a total of 19 out of 20 points overall. This qualified him for a government scholarship, which is exceedingly hard to get. Thankfully, his forms were filled out accurately ahead of time, so the process moved forward without delay.

At the start of August, we heard he was successfully admitted to Makerere University for a Bachelor of Science in Quantity Surveying on a government sponsorship!

We thank God for this milestone for him!
