Rev. Canon John retires. New Diocesan Secretary appointed.

Rev. Canon John retires

We give thanks to God for the faithful ministry of Rev. Canon John Awodi, who retired at the end of August as he turned 65.

Canon John has served the Diocese of Kampala with dedication and has been a steadfast friend and partner to Karis Ministries over the past seven years. We are deeply grateful for his leadership, encouragement, and commitment to seeing children and families strengthened through the gospel.

Before his retirement, Canon John wrote to us, saying:

I also express my very deep and heartfelt gratitude to you and the entire Karis Kids fraternity for the very harmonious and dedicated support you accorded me while in office for the last seven years plus. … Above all let the vision of Karis not die. Let us keep on proclaiming the saving and transforming gospel of Christ. Once again thank you very much for your support, synergy and resilience. Your brother in Christ's vineyard.
— Reverend Canon John Awodi, 8 Aug 2024

On behalf of Karis Kids and the UK trustees, we congratulate Rev. Canon John on his retirement and thank him for his unwavering support over the years. We wish him a long, happy, and productive retirement and pray God’s rich blessing over this next chapter of his life!

New Diocesan Secretary and Treasurer

We warmly welcome Rev. Dr. Henry Majwala as the new Diocesan Secretary as well as Mrs. Sarah Munezero Dhuhimbaze as the new Diocesan Treasurer (who replaced Mrs. Merab Elizabeth Gaamuwa when she retired from the role).

Both bring a wealth of experience and faithfulness to their new roles, and we look forward to working with them.
